Aditi* lives in the slums of Visakhapatnam, India. Out of desperation to support her family, she turned to prostitution and eventually became a brothel keeper, selling younger women into the same life of exploitation. Over time, shame and rejection stripped her of dignity, family, and hope. With no opportunities left, she planned to end her life, until a pastor intervened and offered her a place in Child Impact’s tailoring program. That single act changed everything. Today, Aditi earns a respectable income and lives with dignity. Stories like hers are not rare; the tailoring program in Visakhapatnam has already helped to reduce prostitution in the slum by 50%.
