On a small island in the Kafue River in Zambia, more than 500 children have grown up without setting foot in a classroom. With no school, their futures are heartbreakingly limited. Boys follow their fathers into fishing, while many girls are married off as child brides. The community gathered to ask, “Could we give our children the education we never had?” The very next day, in what felt like God’s perfect timing, Child Impact’s team—completely unknown to the community—arrived on the island with unexpected news: the possibility of building a school. The villagers were astonished. What had once seemed impossible was suddenly within reach. For the first time, the dream of learning and building a new future was within reach. Education is the doorway to a brighter future for these children—freedom from poverty, early marriage, and limited opportunity.
