Solar Power

Students at Anchor School, one of Child Impact’s sponsored schools, are facing a lack of sanitation and reliable power as the current number of solar panels for pumping water and powering the school has become inadequate. Earlier this year, over $100,000 was raised to bring solar power to several schools facing a similar power crisis in Myanmar. Child Impact hopes to see the same generosity for these students. Your gift will bring clean water and reliable power to these students.

Giving Options:

  • $130 per solar panel
  • $2,100 per lithium battery
  • $6,200 per solar kit for one building (seven needed)

At Anchor School, one of Child Impact’s sponsored schools, more than 500 boarding students rely on solar power to pump clean water. Although Child Impact installed running water in 2023, the current number of solar panels isn’t enough to keep the water tanks full 24 hours a day. If the tanks are empty before they bathe, students must fetch water from a nearby lake. Some of these students are so young they can barely carry the buckets and instead fill a small bottle to wash with. It’s a dangerous chore: slipping on rocks, trudging through mud, or facing snakes in the dark, all for water that often isn’t safe. Solar power doesn’t just keep the water flowing. More solar panels and batteries would light dormitories for evening study, power the computer lab, and keep food from spoiling. Right now, many students complete their homework by candlelight or with flashlights. Your gift can provide better sanitation, brighter study spaces, and greater opportunity for the future.
