In 2021, The Philippines outlawed child marriage. Yet, this practice persists in remote jungle villages unabated. Child marriage is considered a form of human trafficking. Often a small dowry is offered for a girl: a bag of candy, coffee, a goat, a few chickens. At that moment any hopes she had to continue her studies and pursue any other dream for her life is crushed. Girls as young as 12 become prime candidates as child brides. Often a pregnancy follows which places the life of the mom and baby at risk.

Child Impact has been working with 11 remote jungle villages in Palawan, Philippines combating child marriage through the literacy schools we support. However, these schools end at grade 10. We have initiated a project to help girls pursue their education by building a rescue campus in the lowlands. This project will house over 50 girls who will continue to pursue their dream of an education. It will be a safe place for them to avoid being forced into early marriage.

Future campus expansion includes an education building for grades 9-12, commercial kitchen, missionary house, boy's dormitory, and a vocational training facility.
